Postpartum Rehabilitation

Your Body Deserves Professional Support After Birth

Childbirth — whether vaginal or cesarean — changes your body in profound ways. We believe every person who has given birth benefits from structured physical therapy, just as you would after any major surgery or injury. Even without tearing or visible “damage,” the muscles and tissues of your pelvic floor and core are stretched and stressed during birth. Pelvic rehab helps your body heal more fully and move with confidence again.

Why Postpartum Rehab Matters

After birth, your core and pelvic floor muscles need more than time alone to recover. Early guidance helps you:

  • Reduce risk of incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and pain

  • Reconnect with deep core and pelvic floor strength

  • Restore safe movement patterns for daily life, lifting, and exercise

  • Move with greater comfort and confidence as you care for your baby

What We Offer

0–6 Weeks Postpartum (Vaginal or Cesarean)

You don’t have to wait until your 6-week check-up. We can see you in clinic or at home right after birth. Your early sessions focus on safe movement, gentle stretching, body mechanics that protect healing tissues, and strategies to prevent future symptoms. We may assess your vulva or abdomen externally, but internal exams are only done after clearance from your medical provider.

6 Weeks & Beyond

If you weren’t evaluated earlier, we recommend scheduling your first postpartum PT visit around your 6-week follow-up with your provider. We assess much more comprehensively than a standard postpartum check — including movement, strength, core control, breathing, and alignment across your spine, hips, ribcage, abdomen, and pelvic floor.

What to Expect

Your initial session includes a detailed evaluation tailored to your birth history and current challenges. From there, your therapist will design a personalized plan. This may include:

  • Core and pelvic floor strengthening

  • Movement retraining and posture correction

  • Manual therapy and scar mobility work

  • Progressive strengthening for safe return to activity

  • Strategies to manage common symptoms like incontinence or pelvic pain

Who This Helps

Postpartum rehab is for anyone who’s given birth — whether your birth was straightforward or complex. Even if you’re feeling “fine,” proactive PT care can support long-term pelvic and core health. It’s never too early or too late to begin.
