Pelvio PT was founded in 2021 in response to the increase in people seeking pelvic health PT. Dr. Samantha Fazio Semar was working in hospital-based PT at a time where it was difficult to manage the influx of patients requiring care. She decided to take matters into her own hands by opening a PT service that comes to you. By providing mobile PT services, Sam hopes to improve a person's ability to see a physical therapist at a time when it might be the hardest to travel to see one.
Within the first year of opening Pelvio, it became apparent that not everyone in Philadelphia wants to receive PT treatment in their home so Pelvio partnered with MedCoShare in Fishtown to provide in-clinic services.
Pelvio Physical Therapy aims to provide patient-centered, whole-body oriented pelvic health physical therapy care by appointing the patient as the ultimate decision maker on course of care and treatment goals as opposed to the traditional physical therapy model of third party payor limitations and non-specific goals.
We treat conditions such as incontinence, pelvic pain, constipation, prolapse, post-op pelvic surgery, and urgency, but have a special affinity toward the pregnant and postpartum person. Pelvio PTs specialize in birth preparation believing that preparing for the physical journey of pregnancy and birth is paramount to reducing injury and trauma.
We also strive to be an educational resource for patients and other healthcare providers by highlighting and proving the importance of pelvic health physical therapy as a necessary avenue of rehabilitation across many healthcare specialties.
Most of all, we believe that physical therapy should be filled with laughter, positivity, and compassion. Making PT enjoyable is our greatest reward.
